Painters are responsible for mixing, matching, and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touch ups, and coordinating large painting projects.
What Do Painters Do?
Painters do a wide variety of things aside from actually painting walls such as, painting surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets. They also mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes. They have to prepare the surface by using crape, sandpaper, prime, or sealing surfaces prior to painting and cleaning the walls to ensure proper adherence. They should cover any surfaces that they don’t want painted with cloth or plastic to ensure protection. They must fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives. Obviously they have to remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting. They usually have to apply several coats according to paint directions. When finished painting they have to clean up any spills and their equipment.
